CfP: Workshop on Performance Pay @Trier University – 12/2022

The IAAEU and the Chair of Personnel Economics at Trier University are pleased to announce the Workshop on Performance Pay and Employee Outcomes, taking place December 1 and 2, 2022.

Both theoretically- and empirically-oriented contributions are welcome. PhD students are particularly encouraged to submit their research.

Please submit electronic versions of extended abstracts or preferably full papers in PDF format no later than October 9, 2022, to clemens@iaaeu.de.

Notifications of acceptance for presentation will be sent by October 31, 2022.

BeNA Online Skills Camp (October 27/28)

This scientific writing skills camp takes place virtually on October 27 and 28, from 1 to 5 pm. It will provide scientists with the tools they need to craft an effective and competitive grant or fellowship application. It focuses on the research proposal, with included tips for the CV and personal statement.

Goals:

  • Learn how to effectively organize a research proposal
  • Understand the key parts of a proposal and the most effective presentation/ordering
  • Provide directly applicable formulas to simplify writing and save time
  • Increase impact by writing with the grant reviewer in mind
  • Learn how to effectively organize a research proposal

Participants will leave the workshop with:

  • A solid understanding of the focus and composition of the main parts of a research proposal

  • Tips with crafting a enticing CV and personal statement

Participants say that after the workshop, they:

  • Understand the differences between manuscripts and proposals and how to write accordingly
  • Feel more comfortable writing a grant proposal
  • Know what information to include and what to leave out
  • Save time structuring their grant application

CfP EWMES in Berlin – December 16-18

The Econometric Society is now accepting papers for the 2022 European Winter Meeting of the Econometric Society (EWMES) hosted by the Berlin School of Economics and Humboldt University. The Local Organizing Committee Chair is Peter Haan (FU Berlin and DIW Berlin) and the Scientific Programme Chair is Uta Schönberg (UCL).

The keynote speakers will be Christian Dustmann (University College London), Jan Eeckhout (University of Pompeu Fabra) and Ekaterina Zhuravskaya (Paris School of Economics).

The conference targets early career researchers (including PhD students) and fosters interactions between younger and more established researchers. It will be a unique opportunity to meet not only other early career but also more established researchers in your field.

BeNA Summer Workshop – 06/2022

The BeNA Labor Economics Workshop took place on June 16, 2022 at DIW Berlin. The one-day workshop provided young labor economists the opportunity to present and discuss their current research with other participants and senior researchers.

This year’s keynotes were given by Sarah Cattan (Associate Director, Education and Skills sector at Institute for Fiscal Studies) and Luise Görges (Assistant Professor at Leuphana University of Lüneburg). The workshop was marked by vivid discussions during the day and included an informal dinner after the workshop.

Christopher Prömel (FU Berlin, JFKI) was awarded the BeNA Innovative Research Award for the paper “Right-wing Protests and their Effects on Perceived Xenophobia” as best contribution to the workshop.

Virtual Expert Café

The Open Virtual Expert Café of the UNTANGLED project is an open format driven by participants’ contributions. It is an informal online gathering among colleagues, to enable exchange between experts, researchers and stakeholders from the fields of digitalisation, globalisation, migration, work, employment, skills etc. and promote exchange and communication among them.

Join the third Open Virtual Expert Café on June 21, 2022 between 4 and 5:30 PM. Participants are kindly asked to register and decide if they want to actively contribute or just listen and discuss.

Active contributions consist in ONE slide (to be submitted to untangled@zsi.at beforehand) and a 5-minute presentation (“elevator pitch”). Listening, receiving information and asking questions is just as welcome. Further contact and networking is up to participants. Collections of slides and announcements will be shared among participants and/or publicly.

Contributions can be:

  1. any information on an ongoing initiative, project or a result,
  2. a future-oriented announcement (call for papers, event invitation, search for collaborators …
  3. a question asked of participants.

18. IWH/IAB-Workshop zur Arbeitsmarktpolitik (29. – 30.09.2022)

Der 18. IWH/IAB-Workshop zur Arbeitsmarktpolitik wird die Auswirkungen von Demografie und Transformationsprozessen auf Betriebe und Erwerbspersonen sowie geeignete politische Maßnahmen, um negativen Folgen dieser Entwicklungen auf das Arbeitskräfteangebot entgegenzuwirken, diskutieren.

Willkommen sind Beiträge insbesondere zu folgenden Aspekten:

  • Arbeitsmarkteffekte von demografischer Entwicklung, technologischem Wandel und ökologischer Transformation
  • Veränderungen in den Qualifikationsanforderungen und (beruflichen) Tätigkeitsstrukturen im Arbeitsmarkt 
  • Berufliche Weiterbildung von Beschäftigten oder Arbeitslosen 
  • Mismatcharbeitslosigkeit trotz Arbeitskräfteknappheit?
  • Arbeitsplatzmobilität und berufliche Mobilität 
  • Krise der dualen Ausbildung, Anpassungen im Ausbildungssystem
  • Arbeitsmarktpolitische Maßnahmen zur Stärkung von Qualifizierung und Erwerbstätigkeit und zur Bewältigung der Transformationsprozesse
