BeNA Summer Workshop 2025

On May 20, 2025, the Berlin Network of Labor Market Research (BeNA) hosted its annual BeNA Summer Workshop at the ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin. The one-day event brought together an inspiring group of junior labor economists for a day of exchange, feedback, and new ideas.

The workshop provided a platform for PhD students to present their research at various stages of development—ranging from early-stage projects to near-complete papers—on a broad spectrum of topics in labor economics. Participants presented their projects in the form of presentations as well as during a poster session.

A highlight of the day was the participation of our two excellent keynote speakers, Martina Uccioli (University of Nottingham) and Lorenzo Navarini (University of Vienna), who shared their latest research and provided valuable feedback throughout the workshop.

The friendly and collegial atmosphere at ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin once again made the workshop a memorable occasion for both presenters and attendees.

As in previous years, all presentations were considered for the BeNA Innovative Research Award, recognizing outstanding and creative research by junior scholars. The winner of the award was Pablo Zárate (University of Mannheim). Congratulations!

We thank everyone who contributed to this year’s workshop and look forward to continuing the tradition of fostering academic exchange and collaboration in the Berlin labor economics community. We especially thank the workshop organizers for their excellent work.
