As a Lecturer in Economics your main duties will include:

• Being actively involved in research, innovation and impact at a national and international level as well as contributing to activity within the Economics Division;
• Maintaining a record of high quality publications of national and international standing;
• Promoting the integration of your own research area with other research interests within and, as appropriate, outside the Division;
• Providing research supervision and helping to attract students to the University;
• Undertaking research-led teaching in core economic modules at different levels, including assessment and examinations, leading module design, and contributing towards review and quality assurance mechanisms;
• Providing support and guidance to students, providing timely feedback, resolving issues and/or referring to specialist parties, where appropriate;
• Contributing effectively to the administrative processes and committee structures of the Division and Faculty including taking on leadership roles and managing initiatives which facilitate Divisional, Faculty or University performance or business;
• Being an active member of the team supporting colleagues and participating in Divisional research and extra-curricular teaching activities

As a Lecturer in Economics you will have:

• A PhD in Economics or very close to completion of a PhD in Economics;
• A track record of research outputs commensurate with career and further outputs planned and in prospect;
• A track record of publications in refereed journals commensurate with a 3 or 4 star rating as defined by the REF and as evidenced by metrics such as the Association of Business Schools journal quality list, the FT45 list or other equivalent source;
• The ability to contribute to and develop collaborative research projects within and beyond the Division, including, as appropriate, interdisciplinary research;
• The ability to obtain research funding or clear plans for the pursuit of grant income;
• The ability to teach in core and applied areas of economics, and to contribute positively to curriculum and programme review and design;
• A proven record of teaching in a university environment, with an enthusiastic approach to teaching Economics and the ability to interact with students in ways that will enhance the student experience;
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate, support, and inspire your research colleagues and peers;
• The ability to contribute to management and administrative processes and structures, including managing resources and/or staff;
• Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to work as a member team In addition, for Lecturer Grade 8 you will have:
• An excellent record of publications in refereed journals commensurate with a 3 or 4 star rating as defined by the REF and as evidenced by metrics such as the Association of Business Schools journal quality list, the FT45 list or other equivalent source;
• Obtained research funding or actively developing bids for research funding;
• Experience of module design, review and teaching innovation in the area of Economics;
• The ability to supervise PhD students;
• The ability to take on leadership roles and manage initiatives within the Division and Faculty.

• Significant experience of teaching Economics effectively at all levels within higher education, including module and programme design, review and development;

• Proven ability to provide academic leadership, including managing resources and/or staff;

Ihr Aufgabenspektrum:

• Evaluation von Beschlüssen des Bewertungsausschusses und weitere empirische Analysen im Bereich der vertragsärztlichen Versorgung. Hierfür werten Sie mit modernen statistischen Methoden und auf leistungsstarken Computern große Datensätze aus. Die Ergebnisse fassen Sie in Berichten zusammen und stellen diese in den Gremien des Bewertungsausschusses vor.
• Weitere Datenanalysen, auch anderer Einzeldatensätze wie etwa der Kostenstrukturerhebung des Statistischen Bundesamtes, und Simulationsrechnungen.
• Sie arbeiten in den entsprechenden Arbeitsgruppen an der Fortentwicklung der vertragsärztlichen Versorgung mit.
• Sie unterstützen Kollegen im Umgang mit modernen ökonometrischen Methoden und möglicherweise auch neuen Methoden aus dem Bereich des maschinellen Lernens (z.B. Modellselektion, Regularisierungen, neuronale Netze).

Sie bringen mit:

• ein abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium aus einem der oben genannten Bereiche oder eine ähnliche Qualifikation
• mehrjährige Erfahrung mit empirischen Analysen (möglicherweise im Rahmen einer Doktorarbeit)
• Erfahrung im Einsatz von Methoden des maschinellen Lernens sind willkommen
• gute Kenntnisse in der Programmiersprache R oder sehr gute Kenntnisse einer anderen Programmiersprache mit der Bereitschaft, sich in R einzuarbeiten
• Kenntnisse des vertragsärztlichen Versorgungs- und Vergütungssystems sowie der Datenflüsse zwischen Vertragsärztinnen und -ärzten, Kassenärztlichen Vereinigungen und gesetzlichen Krankenkassen sind hilfreich, aber kein Muss
