RFBerlin Annual Public Lecture 2026

The ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin – Institute for the Economy and the Future of Work (RFBerlin) invites you to its Annual Public Lecture on 20 October 2026, this year delivered by Professor Janet Currie (Yale University), one of today’s most influential voices in public and health economics.

Currie is a professor at Yale University and a pioneer in the economic analysis of child development. Her research has transformed our understanding of how early-life health, environmental conditions, and access to healthcare shape people’s opportunities and outcomes throughout their lives.

In the lecture, “Investing in Child Mental Health: Implications for Human Capital Development,” Professor Currie turns to what has been described as “the defining public health crisis of our time”: the decline in young people’s mental health. Drawing on new evidence, she examines what lies behind this deterioration and offers a more hopeful conclusion: the crisis has deep roots, but effective solutions exist.
