The Berlin Network of Labor Market Research (BeNA) is pleased to announce a lecture series on October 5-6, 2026, by Xavier D’Haultfoeuille, Professor of Economics at CREST-ENSAE. The lecture series will take place at ROCKWOOL Foundation Berlin.
Xavier has advanced the foundations of difference-in-differences estimation in complex research designs. In his forthcoming book with Clément de Chaisemartin, Causal Inference with Differences-in-Differences: Credible Answers to Hard Questions, he offers a rigorous, modern guide to difference-in-differences. His work has appeared in Econometrica, the American Economic Review, the Review of Economic Studies, and the Review of Economics and Statistics. Xavier also serves as Managing Editor of the Review of Economic Studies.
This lecture series will provide an in-depth introduction to modern methods of difference-in-differences estimation, combining both theoretical insights and empirical applications across classical, heterogeneous adoption, and general research designs. In addition to the lectures, the program will include a BAMS talk on linear regressions with combined data, and a slot of student presentations. Throughout the two days, attendees will be able to take office hours with Xavier.
The precise format of the student presentations will depend on the number of submissions, ranging from short presentations to a poster session. The BeNA Lecture Series is open to the public, but slots are limited. Please register until September 21, 2026 using the form below. In case of oversubscription, BeNA members and PhD students will be given priority.
