Call for Papers: 1st Workshop on School-to-Work Transitions and Consequences for Individual Life Courses

The Institute for Employment Research (IAB) and the Institute of Education at the University College London (UCL) jointly organize the 1st Workshop on School-to-Work Transitions and Consequences for Individual Life Courses, which takes place on April 4th and 5th 2019 in Nuremberg.

To explore the dynamics of the school-to-work transition and its consequences across the life course in the context of educational expansion and technological change the IAB and the UCL jointly set up the Anglo-German Early Career Quantitative Education and Labour Market Research Network. The workshop organisers appreciate contributions from quantitative education or labour market researchers (economists, sociologists, psychologists, or a related social science discipline) who carry out research on the school-to-work transition and its consequences in the UK or Germany using (quasi-) experimental designs or longitudinal data. Applicants should be close to completing a Ph.D. or be within seven years of receipt of a PhD.

To apply, please send a letter of motivation, CV, and a sample piece of research (i.e. a paper, published or unpublished, on this topic) by October 15th 2018 to anglo_german_network@ucl.ac.uk. Participants (ten will be based in Germany and 10 in the UK) will be notified of the acceptance of their application by 12 November 2018.
