IMG_2134More than 60 doctoral students, postdocs and professors participated in the 2015 BeNA Lecture Series with Prof. Ludger Woessmann on “The Economics of Educational Achievement” that took place at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin on March 10 – 11, 2015.

Ludger Wößmann is Professor of Economics at the University of Munich and Director of the Ifo Center for the Economics of Education. His research uses microeconometric methods to answer applied, policy-relevant questions of the empirical economics of education, often using international student achievement tests. He gave three lectures and a research talk that provided an overview of research on the importance of educational achievement for economic prosperity both at the macroeconomic and at the microeconomic level, as well as on how institutions of the school system affect educational achievement. See the flyer for additional information.

The lecture series attracted not only economists from Berlin, but also participants from various parts of Germany and abroad as well as sociologists and psychologists. It was organized by Jan Marcus (DIW Berlin) and Hanna Wielandt (HU Berlin), together with Alexandra Fedorets (DIW Berlin), Ronny Freier (DIW Berlin) and Jessica Oettel (HU Berlin).
