Prof. Schönberg

About 50 doctoral students, postdocs and professors participated in the 2016 BeNA Lecture Series with Professor Uta Schönberg (University College London) on “The Labor Market Effects of Immigration” that took place at the Humboldt University and the Hertie School of Governance on October 11-12, 2016. Prof. Schönberg is Professor of Economics at the University College London. She received her education at the University of Hannover (Diplom) and the University College London (Ph.D.) and did her assistant professorship at the University of Rochester. Her research uses microeconometric methods to answer applied, policy-relevant questions in labor economics, in particular for questions concerning education and immigration.
Prof. Schönberg is also Co-Editor of the Journal of Labor Economics and on the editorial board of the Review of Economic Studies. Her research was published, among others, in the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Economic Perspectives, and the Journal of Labor Economics. Her
outstanding research agenda has also been recognized by several prestigious grants, among others, by the DFG and the ERC starting grant.

The lecture series attracted not only economists from Berlin, but also participants from various parts of Germany. It was organized by Ronny Freier (DIW Berlin) and Lukas Mergele (HU Berlin), together with Alexandra Fedorets (DIW Berlin).
